Bubbles Bear coloring page, color illustrated picture

(Bubbles the Bear). (Point to Bubbles the Bear). This is Bubbles the Bear. He is going to help tell the story. Today we are going to hear the very first story in our Bibles. Its a true story! Yes, that's right. Its true, just like all of the other Bible stories. Its the story of how God made the heavens and the earth, and everything in it! This is what happened: In the beginning it was very, very dark! You mean like when I put my hands over my eyes and everything is dark? Yes. That's right. Let's all put our hands over our eyes. (Place your hands over your eyes). What do you see? Nothing! I don't see anything either. That's how it was in the beginning. It was dark all around. But, God was full of love, and he decided to make some things.

(1) (Hold up one finger, and ask the children to show you one finger.) On Day 1, God made the beautiful, bright light. Do you know how he made light? All He did was say the words, "Let there be light!" and then Wo-o-o-s-h! There was light! Wow! That's how much power God has. He can just say something and there it is! When it was light, it was called daytime, and when it was dark, it was called nighttime. I'm glad God made nighttime so I can go to sleep; and I'm glad God made daytime so I can play outside! Yes, I'm glad God made both daytime and nighttime too. God was very wise in the way he made everything, wasn't he? He sure was! What else did he make?
(2) (Hold up two fingers and tell the children to show you two fingers.) On Day 2, God made a big space, and he called it the sky! - The beautiful blue sky that we see every day! Some days the sky is bright blue. Some days the sky is full of fluffy, white clouds. And, some days the sky is dark and stormy. But, every day God's love and power can be seen in the sky! Did you ever see the sun setting in the evening? It makes so many beautiful colors! Only God could make something that beautiful! Did you ever see a bright, colorful rainbow after it rains? God made the beautiful rainbows too! The sky is full of the wonders of God's love. Tell me what else God made...
(3) (Hold up three fingers, and ask the children to show you three fingers). On Day 3, God made the land and the oceans. He gathered all the water into one place to make the oceans. On that same day, God also made all the different kinds of plants and trees, and flowers too! He made some trees with fruit, some trees with seeds. He made some trees with nuts - all kinds of trees! He made some trees with cherries, and some trees with flowers. To make them grow he sends loving rain showers! He made some trees with pine cones, and some with pears. All the trees, he made with love and care. He made great big trees like the weeping willow, and plants that grow cotton as soft as a pillow. He made green apple trees and red apple trees and yellow apple trees too. In the fall, we see trees of every color and hue. He made all these trees - What a gorgeous view! Trees of every kind and every size. He made big, tall sunflowers (reach up high above your head) and little itty bitty violets (hold up two fingers about a 1/2" apart). He made big red tomatoes and underground potatoes. He made plants of every kind, size and shape. He made bananas, melons and grapes. He made big, juicy strawberries and little tiny blueberries. He made creeping, crawling ivy plants and giant sprawling spider plants. All these plants he made with love and care. His love and goodness he wanted to share! Wow! God made a lot of things on that day! Yes, he sure did! But, God wasn't done yet...
(4) In our Bibles God tells us that he used his own hands to spread out the heavens, and put all of the stars in the sky. (Lift one hand high, stretching it in a big arc above you). (Hold up four fingers, and ask the children to show you four fingers). On Day 4, God made the big bright, yellow sun and the beautiful, glowing silvery moon. He also made the billions of twinkley, winkley stars in the sky! Can everybody show me how stars twinkle? (Wiggle your fingers on both hands and encourage the children to do it with you). Did you ever see the see the sun's light bursting through the clouds in the sky, or feel the warm sun on your face? I'm so glad God made the sun and moon and stars! God was glad too...And God saw that everything that he made was good! Yes, that's right. But, God wasn't done yet. He still had a lot more things to make...
(5) (Hold up five fingers, and ask the children to hold up five fingers). On Day 5, God made all the fish in the ocean. He made scary sharks and giant whales. He made fish with fins and fish with scales. He made the leggy octopus and the slimy eel. He made the big, blubbery walrus and the playful seal - fish of every size and color! Let's see what our Bible says about that: (Read Psalm 104:25). Do you know what else God made on that day?
(6) He also made all the pretty birds on day 5! Yes! Every kind of bird there is! How many kinds of birds are there? Well, I 'm not sure...too many to count! There are thanksgiving turkeys and springtime ducks; roosters and hens that say, "cluck, cluck". There are big, clumsy ostriches and graceful swans. There are birds that sing pretty, happy songs! There is the penguin and robin, the bluejay and flinch. The little baby hummingbird is only one-half of an inch! He made birds that coo and birds that tweet; birds that squeal and birds that squeak. He made noisy woodpeckers, and soft-singing doves. All these birds - he made in love! And God saw that everything he made was good! Yes, he did, but God wasn't done yet! There's even more things that God made! Next week we'll talk more about the other things that God made, but now lets talk some more about the things we've learned about today.

CIRCLE TIME: (What does this mean for me?)

From today's Bible story we learn that God made everything! We learn that in the first five days God made light; He made the sky; He made the land and ocean; and all of the plants, trees and flowers. He made the sun and moon and stars; and he made all the fish and birds. That's a lot of things! How did God know how to make them all? God is so wise! He somehow knew how to make everything. And, he made them just right! Do you know what else? God loves all the things he made! He loves them and takes care of them. Listen to our Bible verse again: (Read Psalm 145:17) And in verse 9 it says: (Read Psalm 145:9) God even has a special name for each star that he made! Just think - All those billions of stars - and he calls each one by their own name! That's how wise God is!

Listen to what our Bible says about how much God cares for the things he made: Psalm 147:8 says: (Read verse.) God is so wise that he knows when the birds need to eat. He knows when the fish are hungry. He knows when the grass on the hill needs rain. He provides for every living thing that he made at just the right time. Wow! Our God is so wonderful and full of love! Yes, he sure is!

We can even see with our own eyes how much God loves and cares for the things he made. Did you ever look at a flower up close? God took the time to make all the little parts of the flower. And he thought up such beautiful colors. He even made them smell good! And he shows that he cares for the flowers by giving them sunshine to help them grow. He made clouds so they could hold water and then rain down on the earth at the right time. Rain helps the flowers grow too. There are so many things that God made just right; and God takes care of all of them! God is even watching over everything he made when we are sleeping at night. That makes me feel really happy that God loves everything he made and that he is watching over them! It makes me happy too. I'm so thankful to God for making everything just right, and that he loves the things he made! The End.

Transition: Now we have a prayer we can say. Let's bow our heads, close our eyes and fold our hands. I'll pray first. Then if anyone wants to pray after me, raise your hand, and we will take turns.

Sample Prayer: Dear God, You are so loving. Y ou are so wise. Thank you for making the beautiful earth, and everything in it! Thank you for loving everything you made. Thank you for watching over us even when we're sleeping. In Jesus' name, Amen.

LESSON: God Made the Animals!

Bible Verse: Genesis 1:25. Other verses used in lesson: Psalms 104: 17-18, 27-28.

(1 Bubbles the Bear). (Point to Bubbles the Bear). This is Bubbles the Bear. Last week, Bubbles helped tell the Bible story last week. Today, he's going to help us again. Last week, we learned how God made the heavens and the earth and everything in it. Can you name some of the things God made in the first five days? (Give the children a chance to answer, then add:) We learned that God made the light, the sky, the land and oceans, the plants and trees. And all the fish and birds too! And he made all those things in five days! Yes, that's right, Bubbles. And we learned how much God loves everything he made! Yes, that's right, too; But, God wasn't done making things yet...

(Hold up six fingers, and ask children to do the same.) Does anybody know what God made on Day 6? (Give the children a chance to answer, then continue). We have a little poem that tells us what God made on Day 6: On Day 6 God made animals of every kind, size and shape. He made gorillas, monkeys and even apes. He made a short, little rhino and a really tall giraffe. He made animals that make you scared, and animals that make you laugh. (2) Did you ever see a kangaroo with a tummy pouch? The baby stays inside where he can hide and crouch. (Crouch down low). God made animals that are soft and warm, like a puppy to cuddle. (Hug yourself). He made animals that get dirty, like pigs in a puddle!. (3) God made zebras and tigers that have stripes or lines. He made some animals with spots --- animals of all kinds! (4) He made some animals that are small, like a little baby bunny. He made some animals beautiful; and some really funny. (5) He made some very strong like the lion and bear. The lion has a mane; that's a special kind of hair! God made animals that are friendly, like the dog and the cow. He made animals that work hard, like an ox pulling a plow. God made animals that play and splash in the water, like the furry little beaver and playful sea otter. God made all these animals and many more...it was a day of animals galore! Wow! God sure made a lot of animals!

And, God made each animal with love and care. He made each one different. Some animals have claws so they can protect themselves. God made some animals just the right color, so that they blend in with the place where they live; this is so they can hide from animals that want to eat them! (6) For example, polar bears are white. They blend in with the white snow of the place they live. God gave some animals eyes that can see in the dark at night, like the owl. The owl needs to see at night because that is when he looks for his food! (2 again). God made some animals with really strong legs, so they could jump far, like the kangaroo. That way, kangaroos can move really fast and get away from another animal that is chasing them. God gave some animals special abilities. The elephant has a strong truck. He can do lots of things with his trunk. He can pick up food and feed himself with his trunk. He can slurp up water and then give himself a bath. He can even do hard work, like carry heavy logs, with his trunk! God was so wise when he made the animals! And, there's a lot of things that we don't even understand about animals! He made each animal special and different! But, where do all the animals live?

Well, God is so wise! God didn't just make the animals and leave them all alone. He loves them so much that he gave each a special home. Psalm 104 tells us that God planted the cedar trees and gave them lots of water. Then, in verse 17-18, this is what it says: (Read Psalms 104:17-18). See how much God loves the animals he made? He gives each of them a special home all their own! God made some animals to be happy living in the water, like the playful little sea otters. Some animals like the forest, like a bear. Some animals are happy in the hot desert , like a camel. Just like our Bible tells us, God gives each animal a special home to live in. And, God made some animals so smart that they know how to make their own home - like a mole who digs a hole in the ground to live in, (7) and the bees that make their own bee hive! (8) God even made this little critter with a home - his own shell on his back is his home! The turtle can just crawl inside his shell when he wants a safe place to be! Yes God is so wise! He knows where each animal belongs! But, who looks out for the animals?

Well, in our Bibles, Psalm 104 tells us all about how God cares for the animals. It tells us how he made the water in the lakes and ponds and rivers. Then it tells us how the wild animals drink the water; then they are not thirsty any more! Have you ever seen birds singing happily? God has given them water and food to eat too! Cows and sheep need grass to eat, don't they? God makes it rain so the grass can grow. That's how God makes sure the cows and sheep get the food they need. And in verses 27-28 are talking about God when it says this: (Read Psalms 104:27-28). So, its God takes care of all of the animals! Very good, Bubbles. You are learning a lot today!

Well, next week we will learn about something else God made on Day 6. But, right now, for circle time we have some flash cards with animals on them. I will ask you some questions. See if you can answer the questions.

CIRCLE TALK TIME: (What does this mean for me?)

Print the Animal Flash Cards, Page 1 and Page 2, Hold up each one and ask some of these questions:

For the animals in their homes, ask these questions: Who made this animal? Where does it live? How does the it know how to make its home? (God helped it know how). Who takes care of this animal?

For the other animals, ask all or some of these questions? What is this animal? What is special about this animal? Who made this animal special? Who loves this animal? Who takes care of this animal?

Transition: Now we have a prayer we can say. Let's bow our heads, close our eyes and fold our hands. I'll say the words first and give you time to say them after me.

PRAYER: Dear God,

Please help me

Thank you for making

to be kind to them,
all of the wonderful animals! and take care of them too.
Thank you for In Jesus' name,
loving the animals, Amen.

and taking care of them,

PREP: If you are doing the lessons in order, you should already have printed Week 15 pictures of animals. If not, do so and cut apart. ACTIVITY: You can do this activity with the whole class at once. Explain to the children that they can pretend to be Adam. Its their job to name the animals. One by one hold up each animal. They can pretend to write the animal's name on a piece of paper, or you can have them take turns and just say the name out loud. Let them know they are to make up a new name, not say the real name of the animal. When they've finished naming all of the animals, let them know what a wonderful job they did. Then they get to enjoy some fruit, or (fruity drink) from the Garden of Eden as a snack!

Little pads of paper and crayons or jumbo pencils.
Chewy fruit snacks, tropical fruit cocktail, or Strawberry Quick milk drink (but ask about milk allergies ahead of time, rice milk may be an o.k. alternative).

Creation / Adam and Eve Activity for Children Action Rhyme - This is a rhyme with hand motions. Go through the rhyme (on left column) and actions (corresponding right column) once for the children, then ask them to try to do the rhyme and actions with you.

God made you, and God made me. Point to someone, point to yourself.
Everything we do, God can see! Make "glasses" with your thumb and pointer finger.
He sees me laugh, he sees my tears. Point to face below eye.
He sees me pout; he sees me cheer! Throw hands up in the air.
God knows everything - all about me. Shake head "yes".
He knows my birthday -if I'm 2 or 3! Hold up two fingers, then three.
God sure cares all about the way I feel. Hug yourself.
He loves for me to pray as I kneel. Place hands together as if praying.
He loves to hear all about my day. Cup hand over ear.
He loves to hear the praises I say. Point to mouth.
He has loved me since I was small. Place hand way down low, palm flat.
He'll still love me when I grow tall. Place hand way up high, palm flat.
He has promised he'll leave me never! Shake head "no".
He'll be my God forever and ever! Jump!
Creation / Adam and Eve Activity for Children - Animal Actions Game:
Items Needed: How To Play the Game:
Animal craft sample. See craft page for directions.
The children all stand in the middle of the room. Teacher flicks the spinner to move it. The teacher states the action of the animal. The assistant starts the CD. When the music is playing the children continuously do the action of the animal. The assistant stops the music after a few seconds, or up to a minute or so. When the music stops, the children have to freeze in whatever position they are in. If they keep moving after the music stops, they have to go sit down. Continue playing in this way until only one child is left standing. That child is the winner. They get the extra prize. Give all the children prizes at the end for their effort.

Toddler / Preschool Sunday School Creation Crafts - For Lesson 14, God Made the Beautiful World!, children make their own Creation Bear Craft, which is also a Creation game. You also have other craft options, including a doorknob hanger made out of construction paper for toddlers, or foam for older preschool children. They also make a giant, happy sunshine that will brighten their day as they remember God's creation.
* Please Note: Always supervise young children when working with crafts. We don't use small objects that are choking hazards, but even crayons, markers and glue stick caps can be choking hazards. Remove caps and place out of children's reach. Only use one glue stick per adult, and watch child while they are using it. We have substituted construction paper for all foam crafts. Unless children are at least 4 years old, do not use foam ( they could tear off pieces and eat it, even after they leave the class. At least paper is not as bulky if they eat that).
