Intro: Did you all have fun playing with the stretchy bands (or toys)? Its fun to stretch things to see how far they can reach, isn't it? I made a great big band that stretches. Let's make a circle of love, and see how many animal friends we can fit in our circle of love. (Place the nice toys together first, and place inside the band). They look like a loving, happy family when they are all together, don't they? (Let's see if we can stretch our circle to fit all the everybody inside our circle of love). Uh-oh. (Pick up the one with patches). We can't leave this one out. He needs extra love because he is worn and old. (Add "Patches" to banded animals). He is just as special as the rest. Oh, here is a dirty one over here. (Pick up dirty one). We have to stretch our circle to fit this one in too. (Stretch circle to fit "Dirty"). And, this one is different the rest, (Pick up the different one). He is special too. Let's see if we can stretch our circle of love just a little bit more. (Add "Different" bear). Uh-oh. This little one that got left out. He is so quiet that nobody noticed him. (Put the little one inside the band). There! Now we have stretched our circle of love so that is reaches far enough to include everybody! Did you know that Jesus' love stretched far enough to include everybody too? Let's listen to this story and we will see what happened.

The people loved to hear Jesus teach! (1) Many, many people came and gathered around Jesus to hear him teach. One of the people in the crowd was a woman that nobody noticed. Everyone ignored her. (2) If somebody did see her, they stayed away from her because she was sick. (Point to the woman by herself). I bet she felt sad and all alone. I would be sad if everybody stayed away from me too, wouldn't you? (Let children answer). But she knew that Jesus made people all better! She thought, "If I could just touch his clothes, I know Jesus can make me well. I've seen him heal lots of people. " It was hard for her to find Jesus with all the people crowding around. Where was he? (Place hand above brow and pretend like you are searching). She just had to get to Jesus. There he is! Finally she saw him. Slowly she made her way through the crowd to Jesus. (3) She reached out her hand... Uh-oh, she wasn't quite close enough. She took a couple steps closer to Jesus. She reached out her hand again, and...Zi-i-i-ng! (Jump back). When she touched Jesus' clothes, she was made well! (Whisper). Just at the moment, she knew she was all better! Sh-h-h-h. She didn't want anybody to know. She tried to just sneak away because she felt like nobody would care. She didn't want to bother Jesus. After all, nobody ever noticed her. But what she thought was not true. (Shake head no).

There was someone in the crowd who noticed her, and someone who cared. Can anyone guess who noticed the woman in the crowd of people? (Let children answer). Yes! Jesus! Jesus felt the woman touch his clothes! So, he asked, "Who touched me?" Jesus' friend said, "There's no way to tell who touched you with so many people around. It could have been anybody." But again Jesus said, "I know someone touched me!" So the woman came up to Jesus and told him that she was the one who had touched him. (Point to woman). She told Jesus the story of how she had been sick for 12 years! And, she told Jesus how she knew she was all better the moment she touched his clothes! Jesus was so kind and friendly! He listened closely to every word she said. He told her that since she believed, she was made well. And, he told her to go in peace. That means Jesus forgave the things she had done wrong too. (Again ). (4) Now she was so happy! Now she knew somebody cared! Somebody finally paid attention to her! Jesus' love stretched far enough to include even the people that nobody else cared about. Isn't that a wonderful story? Let's have snack and then we will talk some more.

CIRCLE TIME: (What does this mean for me?)

Jesus made sure the sick woman knew that she was not bothering him. He was kind to everyone because he loved everyone! Jesus loves the rich people and the poor people. Jesus loves people who are like him, and those who are different. Jesus loves those who are sick. He even loves the ones who are really bad! Jesus shows love to the quiet, shy ones too.

I think Jesus wants us to show love to everyone too. As we go about playing and working each day, there are ways we can show love. What if you are playing a game, (5) and a boy wants to play with you. But, he doesn't have nice clothes. Should you let him play with you? (Let children answer). Yes, Jesus would want you to let him play the game too, no matter how rich or poor he is. That would show him that you love him when you let him play with you. (6) What if a boy sits down by you when you are eating lunch at preschool. He see your cookies, and asks if he can have a cookie. But, he looks different than you. Should you show love to him too? Yes. Jesus wants us to show love to those who are like us, and those who are different. (7) What if a new girl came to our class, and she is standing all by herself because she is shy. What could you do to be kind? (Let children answer). Yes. Very good. I'm so glad you are learning how to show love to others like Jesus did! Sometimes its hard to show love. Sometimes we don't feel like it. But, if we ask Jesus to help us to stretch our circle of love, he will! He will help us love everyone. We have some fun activities and crafts to do later, but who wants to pray with me first?

PRAYER: Allow children to pray after adult prays.
