(Do Warm-Up Activity before lesson. See Activities Page). Intro: Did you all have fun sharing your toys this morning? Sharing is lots of fun! (1) Some of you were very good at sharing. You were glad to let other children play with your toy. (2) Others of you felt a little scared. Maybe you thought you might not get your toy back. Or maybe you were afraid that someone would break your toy or lose it. Sometimes its hard to share. Sometimes we want to keep our things all to ourselves. I wonder if Jesus' friends were good at sharing? Let's listen and we will find out.

(3) Last week we talked about Jesus' friends. They were the very first church! They met together to worship God and teach others about Jesus. And, when we teach others about Jesus, do you think we should also do what Jesus taught? (Let children answer). Yes. Jesus taught us there is one thing that will show that we love him. Here's what Jesus told his friends. (John 13:34-35). Let's see what Jesus' friends did to show love. (Read Acts 2:44-45). (4) They sold their land, and got a lot of money! (Place money in people's hands). But they didn't keep it for themselves. (Shake head no). They wanted to be like Jesus. (Place money in slit on box). So they gave it to the church for the people who needed food and clothing! They shared their money with the people who didn't have much. Wow! That's really great, isn't it? They were really good at sharing!

They showed love in other ways too: (5) (Read Acts 4:32a). They were united in heart and spirit. That means that they all loved Jesus, so they all wanted to show Jesus' love to others! This verse tells us more: (Read Acts 4:32b, 34a). They all knew that Jesus was kind, and that he shares everything with us, so they shared everything too! They all worked together to make sure everybody had the things they needed. Nobody got left out. (6) And, when we show Jesus' love to others and share, we are all the same in heart and spirit too!

Here's something that will help you understand how Jesus' friends shared: (7) (Place stickers on the pictures as you mention them). In your family, your parents make sure everybody has the things they need. If they know you need clothes, they get you some clothes. When they see that you are hungry, they make sure you have food to eat. When they know you need to learn, they get you books and toys. And, your brothers and sisters share their things with you sometimes too! And everybody in the family shares everything! Nobody needs anything! That's how Jesus wants all of us here to be too - like a big happy family!

Let's see what happened next in our story: (Read Acts 2:46b-47a). (5 again) When people visited the first church, they saw that everybody was sharing, and caring for each other! They really liked being around people like that! Then they wanted to know Jesus too! Did you know that you and I are the church too? (Point to everyone in the class).(9) If we share with the children who visit our class, what do you think might happen? (Let children answer). Yes. They will like us! And, they will want to come and learn more about Jesus! (1 again) If we treated the new children like a special brother or sister, and share our things with them, that would make them happy. If we invited him to play with us, and we shared the toys with them, they would want to come back! (Let children answer). The children would would see that our class likes to share and care like Jesus' friends did! Then they would want come back to play and learn about Jesus! Then, more children will come to know Jesus, just like with the very first church! Let's have snack now, then (10) Share-N-Care Bear has some things he wants to share with us.

CIRCLE TIME: (What does this mean for me?)

This is Share-N-Care Bear. He heard the lesson today and he thinks our class can be be like the first church! (Pull the Galatians 6:2 piece of paper out of his pocket. Read verse - Use a translation that talks about bearing one another's burdens). Bearing someone's burdens means helping them with their troubles. It means sharing and caring. Let's see how we can do that. Who wants to reach in his pocket and pull out a piece of paper. (Let children take turns pulling out slips of paper. Read what it says, and give the attached sticker to the child who pulls out the paper to put on their hand. Have extra stickers on hand for the children who did not get a turn).

(Hand sticker) Lend a helping hand. (Food sticker) Remember the poor. Give them food and clothes.
(Happy face sticker) Be happy when others are happy. (Praying hands) Pray for those who are sick.
(Sad face sticker) Be sad when others are sad. (Hugs) Comfort those who are upset.
(Look inside bear's pocket). I think that is all there are! Now we know more ways we can share and care! Thank you all for helping me. We will make Share-N-Care Bear later for our craft.
PRAYER: Allow children to pray after adult prays.
