Week 20 - My Bible Lasts Forever!

Concepts Children Learn: God's words in the Bible last forever! God love lasts forever!

Prep: Mark you bible with the memory verse and other verses used in the lesson: Isaiah 40:8; Psalm 119:89-91, and 151-152; Jer. 31:3. Supplies needed for Circle Talk Time: The oldest Barbie doll you can find, the oldest wooden blocks you can find, or other antique toys such as trains, etc. Use mostly boy toys if you have lots of boys in the class. (Make sure the toys are clean and safe, ie., parts not sharp or broken, if you will allow the children to touch them and play with them. See Activities Page. If your children are younger than 3 don't bring in toys with small parts, which are choking hazards). You will also need an old Bible, well used, if possible. And you will need toy clocks for an activity, as well (optional). Print the b&w or color story pages. Make Bible Bear Puppet (See Craft page). You may already have page 3 from lesson 14. 1bw, 1color, 2bw, 2color, 3bw, 3color, 4bw, 5bw, 5color.

The numbers in parentheses tell you what Story Page to hold up while you are telling the story. (You don't need to read the words on the actual story page. They are for use as posters or coloring pages). Only read words that are not in parentheses for the lesson. The words in parentheses tell you what actions you do.

Key Bible Verse: Isaiah 40:8. Other verses used in lesson: Psalm 119:89-91; Psalm 119:151-152. Other Scriptures used as reference: Psalm 119:160.
LESSON: My Bible Lasts Forever!
Teacher: (1) This is Bible Bear. He is here to help us with our lesson again today. Bible Bear, what do you have there?
Bible Bear: (Sadly) Well, I wanted to bring you some flowers...but they are wilting already.
Teacher: Oh, thank you so much! I love flowers! Its ok if they're not perfect. I'm just happy that you thought of me!
Bible Bear: You're welcome! Flowers don't last very long, do they?
Teacher: (2) No, they don't. There is a bible verse about that. (Read Isaiah 40:8).
Bible Bear: Well...let me think. If the words of God last forever, that means.....they last always! That means the words God tells us in the Bible will always be true!
Teacher: That's right. We can be sure that they are all true. And, that's forever! Listen to this verse: (Read Psalm 119:151-152). See, God loves us so much. He wouldn't say something that was only right for a little while. (Shake head no). (3) When God tells us how much he loves us in the Bible...he means always!
Bible Bear: I know a Bible verse that is kind of like that one! (Read Jer. 31:3).
Teacher: That's one of my favorite Bible verses!
Bible Bear: So God will love us even when I'm we are as old as our Grandpas?
Teacher: Even longer than that! God's love will never end. People's love comes and goes. But, God promises to love his people forever! (5 again). (Point to Bible, v.89, then hearts, v. 90, then back to Bible, v.91 as you read Psalm 119:89-91). (4) (Point to each picture as you say the word). That means God loved our grandpa's daddy, and our grandpa, and our dads and he loves all of you too! And he will love all of your kids too, someday, if you have kids, and their kids after that!
Bible Bear: That's a long, long time! I'm having trouble thinking about how long that is. Can you show me how long God's love will last on a clock?
Teacher: (5) (Make hands go around and around). Well, each day the hours go by. 1:00, 2:00, 3:00...but if the clock never stopped, and it went on and on and on...(keep turning hands around the clock), and on and on (keep turning) that is how long God's love lasts! It never ends! God's love for us just keeps on going and going and going! That's how long God's words last too! Our Bible will be true forever, and ever and ever!
Bible Bear: Wow! Now I'm starting to understand. That makes me feel safe and secure because we know that God keeps all of his promises!
Teacher: Yes, I'm so glad all of God's words are true, and that they will last forever. (3 again). We can all feel safe and secure knowing how much God loves us (Point to hearts). , And, knowing that his words last forever (Point to Bible).
Bible Bear: Yea! (Jumps up and down).
Teacher: Let's have snack, then we can talk some more.

CIRCLE TIME: (What does this mean for me?)

(Tip: Vary the words according to the toys that you find. Only use this as a guide. You can also use a newer version along with the old toy if you have them, ie., an old, jointed bear and a new Carebear TM. Some toys and the years they were invented are listed below to help you). Who has a toy at home that has lasted a long time - maybe a toy that was you older brother's or sister's? (Give children a chance to answer). Some toys have been around a long, long time. Look at this Barbie doll. (Hold up Barbie). Barbie dolls were first made when I (or my mom) was young! But children today still love Barbie dolls. (Hold up a newer Barbie). They have changed a little over the years, but mostly Barbie looks pretty much the same!. And what about teddy bears. (Hold up teddy bear). They have been around even longer than that! Some of your great-grandpas and grandmas even had teddy bears! Teddy bears have lasted through many generations! Now teddy bears are different colors, but they are still Teddy bears. (Hold up a Carebear TM). (Hold up a black Bible). But, who can tell me what lasts even longer than all these old toys? (Give children a chance to answer. Correct answers can be God's words, God's love, God's promises, etc.). (Open the bible and point to the words). That's right. God's words will last always! They will always be true. God's love will never end. Let's pray now and thank God for his love that lasts forever!
