LESSON: I Praise God For My Things and My House!

Intro: We got to play with some really special toys this morning, didn't we? Who would like to tell the class what your favorite toy is at home? (Let children talk about their favorite toy). Your parents probably bought you the toy, or maybe grandma or grandpa, or an aunt or uncle did. They gave the toy to you! But, did you know that the toy really belongs to someone else? Let's see what our Bible tells us: (Read Psalm 24:1) This will help us understand. (1) Let's look at these things. (Also show the children the wooden toys). These things are made out of wood. (2) And wood comes from trees. Who gave us the trees to make these things?(Let children answer). Right! God did! God made the trees when he created the world. We wouldn't have any of these things if God didn't make trees for us.

(3) Let's look at these nice soft, cottony things. (Also show the cotton toys, clothes, blankets or cloth doll). These things are made of cotton. (4) And, cotton grows on a cotton plant. Who made all the cotton plants? (Let children answer). Yes. God made the plants too! (5) What about these things? (Also show children wool products). They are made of wool. Can anyone tell me where wool comes from? (Let children answer). Very good! (6) Wool cloth comes from the fleece of lambs. And, who made the lambs? (Let children answer). Right! God made all of the animals too!

Even plastic things and metal things are made from things that God made first. So, all the things we have are really not ours. They belong to God. He is the one who made everything! He is so kind that he shares everything with us! (7) And, he is the one who deserves our thanks. Let's see what our Bible says about the things he gives us. (Read Ephesians 5:20). God wants us to be thankful for everything.

Let's see what our Bible says about the things he gives us to enjoy: (Read Genesis 2:15). When God made people, he gave them a beautiful garden! And he put Adam there to take good care of it. And, God wants us to take good care of all the things he gives us too. When we have a favorite toy, we want to take real good care of it, don't we? We want to make sure it lasts and that it doesn't get broken. (8) We might even take it to bed with us at night if it is something that is soft. If you shared your favorite toy with a friend, and let them play with it, how would you want them to treat your special toy? (Let children answer). Yes, you would want them to be careful with it and take good care of it, wouldn't you? Well, its the same thing that God wants. The things God gives us are his. And, he wants us to take good care of them. (9) If we take good care of our things, we can give them away when we are all done with them. Then, someone else can enjoy them too! Since God was so kind to us, to give us all the special things that he made, he wants us to kind too. We show that we love God when we are kind and share the things that he gives us. It shows that we know that our things really belong to him. And, it shows that we are thankful when we share. Let's have snack, and then we can talk some more after snack.

CIRCLE TIME: (What does this mean for me?)

(10, 11, 12) Let's talk about the houses that God gave us and all the things he gave us to put in them. Here is a house. I'm so glad God gives us warm houses to live in. You can help me put the things in the house. God gave us a comfy bed to sleep in. (Point to bed in the house). He gives us comfy chairs to sit on. (Let child add chair sticker). He gives us good food to eat every day. (Let child add food stickers to table and counter). He gives us toys and books. (Let child add toys and books stickers). Maybe you even have a TV or a computer! (Point to T.V.). So, if God was kind enough to give us a house and so many nice things, do you think he wants us to keep our things all to ourselves? (Place all toy and food stickers by one child). (Let children answer). No, he wants us to be kind like he is. He wants us to share the things we have. (Show blank page with children on it.) (13) What if there is a family who just moved to your neighborhood, and they don't have much furniture. Maybe your family could share some furniture with the new family. Who wants to give a chair to the new family? (Let children place some of the chairs, the sofa and the bed on the blank page.) That would be very kind! Maybe we could share some books and toys with them too. Who wants to give some toys and books to the new family? (Let child place toys and books stickers by the family. And if the family doesn't have a TV, maybe you could invite them over to watch a movie with your family. (Let child place stickers of new family's children in house by T.V. with other children). That would be kind, too, because you are sharing your TV and your movies! When we share our house and our things, it shows we love God. You all did such a great job helping me! Thank you for helping me! Now let's pray and thank God for all the wonderful things he has given us.

PRAYER: Allow children to pray after adult prays.
